It must seem to you like I've completely forgotten about Christmas and New Year already. I promise you, I haven't forgotten, I just didn't have much to write about it. However, I've changed my mind, so here's my list of favourites from 2008 and things to look forward to in 2009:
The Year That Was;
Favourite Band/Musician: Yelle/Rediscovering Joy Division and ABBA
Favourite Designer: Marc Jacobs
Most Memorable Event: Travelling to Russia with my friends and meeting some of the most incredible people.
Best Purchase: Gin&Tonic jacket in Ireland
Best Gift: Daisy Perfume for Christmas
Favourite Book: Double Cross by Malorie Blackman/The Resistance by Gemma Malley/City Of Bones and City Of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
Favourite Film:The Big Blue (I know it's an old film, but I saw it for the first time last year and it's now one of my favourite films, so I've decided it counts)
Favourite Website: lookbook.nu
Favourite Person: Alek Wek. I read her autobiography last year and she's the most beautiful, brave and inspiring person you can imagine.
Favourite General Discovery: Myself. I know it sounds stupid and cliched, but this year I've met people and been places that have helped me to discover who I am and that I don't need to follow other people to fit in.
The Year That Will Be;
Favourite Up & Coming Band: Chester French (yes, already quite big in the US, but I think they'll be big in 2009), Little Boots and Imelda May.
Favourite Up & Coming Designer:LIFEwithBIRD
Most Anticipated Book: City Of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Most Anticipated Film: Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist (I think it's already out in the US and I'm not sure if it'll be in cinemas here, but I read about it in Nylon and I'm determined to find it on DVD somewhere...)
Generally Looking Forward To: Skiing in France with friends I don't see often, sixteenth birthday, generally having a year to remember!
