Since getting back from France I've been suffering from withdrawal symptoms.
I think I need to move there.
Quite badly.
I've had the notion since I was pretty little (my uncle lives in Paris, with his French wife and their two daughters), but I guess I never really took it seriously.
Until I got over there, and I saw the country from a whole new perspective now that I was without parents telling me what to do or where to go, and it hit me just how wonderful it would be to speak the language every day and live off French baguettes.
So I think I might apply to universities over there when the time comes. I think my French is just about good enough, and I just need it so bad...

I'm back from France! I had an amazing time, I've come back with a lovely tan and a bit of a fetish for the French language. The picture's of the 14 July celebrations in Toulouse's city centre, unfortunately not taken by me as I left my camera in the flat.

Golden Age by TV On The Radio;
Random video involving model cars, but the official one's been taken off youtube.
Off to pack for Toulouse now...

I fucking loved Michael Jackson. He had such a hard time, I guess he's in a better place now.

In the first picture, I'd be the one lying with my face in the sand behind the bonfire...

Got a big weekend planned! It's the last one before school breaks up for the summer (I'm off to Toulouse next Friday!), so everyone's got stuff planned.
I'm going to see Hannah's last ever dance performance tomorrow night, then on Saturday there's another party on the beach. I'm supposed to be taking food and I've promised six people they can sleep in my four-man tent... Eek!
Meanwhile, here's a cool picture from LOOKBOOK...

I posted this on my bebo a few days ago, and figured it may as well go here, too...
my name is amy vaughan pocahontas mcilhenny. as you may have guessed, the third part of this name was added by me when i was seven years old, to spice it up a little. i don't like my name much, hence the addition of a popular disney character and my frequent lengthening of my first name to amelia... it just sounds more exciting, somehow.
i'm 16 years old, born on the 12 march 1993, in the university college hospital in london. my mummy and daddy moved north when i was 5 months old, so i don't really have any memories of london. apparently i met my gran and granda for the first time at kew gardens, and my mum took me to the natural history museum several times before we moved. i've been back, but not since i was about eight. i'd like to see it again, properly. sometimes i wonder what i'd be like if i'd stayed there... i'd have liked it, but i think i like scotland better.
speaking of scotland, i currently reside in a big, pointy house with a breeze-block exterior which my grandpa designed in the '70s (he, like my mum, dad and various other relations, was an architect). apparently bob told me it was ugly and should be painted while i was drunk at the beach and i cried. the place really does mean a lot to me, maybe because it's one of few things i've got left that properly connect me to my grandpa...
i have a lot of really lovely friends. i'm finding that as we all grow up together, the really close ones become closer, the not so close ones drift away, and new friendships form whilst old ones fall apart. i quite like these changes, but there are some friendships i'd rather not have lost, and some really old ones that i feel aren't quite as strong as they once were. i'd like them to get stronger again. i'm going to work on that...
i'm not a very fussy person, i like a lot of things. for example, i quite like rain, though i do complain about it getting my hair messed up. i like ice-cream, possibly a little too much. i like the smell of books, i like music, i like drawing and i like France. there are a lot of other things i like, too, but i'll leave them for when you're already asleep so you can't blame me for making you drowsy.
i have a number of obsessive compulsive habits, namely turning off plug switches which don't have plugs in, sharpening pencils and rearranging the duvet covers when someone sits on my bed, even if it means they have to get up. see, i'm generally a nice person, but when it comes to duvets, it's tough cookies for you. you're probably better just sitting on the floor, if i'm honest...

I went to a tea party today at Zoe's house today.
It was all lovely and civilized, until we put on an old Aretha Franklin CD and started chasing each other around the kitchen with cake knives. I arrived home this afternoon with 'war paint' stripes on my face and strawberry jam on my sister's favourite dress (which she kindly let me borrow... in secret...).
We're going harbour jumping again tomorrow, and then my cousins and uncle will be arriving from Paris for the weekend. Joy of joys, I have to spend the weekend with extended family celebrating my grandmother's 80th birthday. Fabulous.
